Content | O[ldřich] Korte's study of Martinů's CONCERTO FOR OBOE AND SMALL ORCHESTRA. In the introduction Korte briefly summarises Martinů's creative periods, which he divides into: Paris (1923 - 1940), a) until the 1930s, b) until 1930; III. America (1941-1953); IV The last European years (France, Italy, Switzerland: 1953-1959). For each of these, OK briefly lists Martinů's creative tendencies and the works representing each of these periods. OK also describes Martinů's process of searching for form and style and his creative philosophy. In the context of this general overview OK places the work CONCERTO FOR OBOE AND SMALL ORCHESTRA. Further on in the text, OK analyses the individual movements of the concerto in detail, emphasising his thesis that each of the movements of the concerto 'brings the experience of an aesthetically fulfilled form [...] of an intimately familiar human experience'.
Finally, OK sets the work and its concept in detail within the wider context of the composer's artistic and generally creative thinking, while also expressing personal impressions and reflections on the work and its position and significance within Martinů's life and work.
In the last part of the text, OK then lists sources and literature relating to Martinů's life and work, citing also "own research" as a source:
