Content and physical description
ContentCharlotta Martinů writes to Karel Šebánek about CONCERT FOR VIOLINS AND ORCHESTRA No. 1. This matter dates from before Bohuslav Martinů's death. BM gave it to a member of the Boston Symphony Orchestra to give to [Hans] Moldenhauser, who had to pay for the manuscript. She was in contact with this gentleman until his death in 1968. She has no information about the piece since then. HM came with his wife to discuss the terms of ownership of the manuscript. He was to give ChM $300. ChM was promised, thanks to [Harry] Halbreich, that the composition would be published by Eschig. The first performance was to be played by Ivan [Straus]. HM had the opportunity to choose the conductor and violinist. So the premiere will be in Chicago with [George] Solti and Josef Suk. IS can perform the CONCERTANT SUITE. ChM also did not understand why Philippe Marieti and [Didier] Duclos were not at Boosey & Hawkes during the summer, due to being very busy. ChM signed a contract that HM did not receive, so they have to produce a new copy. ChM hopes to be able to see GREEK PASSIONS on April 7. He will not be able to attend the Prague performance due to health reasons. He asks that KS tell [Anna] Špačková and [Sasha] Večtom that he will contact them later. If KS finds the ballet HANDS, he is to contact ChM as soon as possible. He also asks for information on who to ask at Supraphon for recordings of SYMPHONY No. 5 and No. 6 and also MEMORIAL TO THE PEOPLE.
