Content and physical description
ContentCharlotte Martinů has returned from Paris, where she attended one of the concerts in honour of Bohuslav Martinů. There she met Georges Neveux, who is said to have forgotten to send [Jarmila] Burghauser the libretto of JULIETTA. ChM will be going to Paris next week because there will be a performance of the CONCERT FOR CLAVIER AND ORCHESTRA by Serge Baudo, so she can forward the shipment. He will take the material of the CONCERT FOR PIANO AND ORCHESTRA No. 1 to Prague to return it to Lucette Descaves. ChM received five copies of THE MOTHER WHO DUPED and gave one copy to Mario Bois. She also has two copies of VARIATIONS ON SLOVAK PEOPLE'S WRITING and this quantity is sufficient for her. She asks Karel Šebánek to check the contract of ownership of the manuscripts, which she forgot to send to the Bärenreiter publishing house. Lilian Fuchs wrote to Bärenreiter asking for the score and material for RHAPSODY-CONCERTO. ChM also met with [Rudolf Firkušný] and his wife. The Rhapsody-concerto is also said to be played in Germany and the score is not very legible. ChM is not sure whether this is the same copy sent by LF or whether it is the score published by Bärenreiter. ChM has contacted [David] Adams of the Boosey & Hawkes publishers. The publication of SYMPHONY No. 2 and SYMPHONY No. 3 has been delayed. Symphony No. 3 will be ready on August 31, 1966 and Symphony No. 2 a little later. DA asks if ChM has a contact for someone who can check the test copies. Unfortunately, ChM does not know anyone like that, however, she has received three test copies of both symphonies. He also asks KS if he could write to [Bedřich] Macenauer in Pilsen to say that the New Czech Songs do not exist. This is a mistake on [Zdeněk] Zouhar's part. Harry Halbreich informed ChM that there is an opera, THREE WISHES, which has never been performed. ChM does not know the details of the SONATA FOR FLUTEN, HOUSEL AND CLAVIER; in 1959 she was dealing with tax returns in France and also in the UK, and the postal summonses were handled by her friends in Basel. She asks KS to show this letter to [Jaromir] Špaček. Sends his regards to [Vladimír] Hurban.
