Content and physical description
ContentCharlotte Martinu writes that the situation with the two packages is now resolved. As for the [René] Leroy issue, it is too late to resolve it if the edition is already finished. ChM will discuss this situation with Philippe Mairetti when he comes back from holiday at the end of September. There are two versions of THE THREE MADRIGALS, one from 1947 and the other from 1950 - both published by Boosey & Hawkes. Max Eschig has published DUO FOR HOUSEL AND VIOLONCELLO No. 2. ChM has to go to Paris for the second time, where he visits the Boosey & Hawkes publishing house and asks for the texts of DUO PRO HOUSLE AND VIOLONCELLO Nos. 1 and 2 to be sent to [Hubert] Simacek. She is very interested in the premiere of GREEK PASSIONS, which should take place in February 1967. Bärenreiter has not written to her about Hugo. It was [Václav] Kašlík who told her when she was in Prague in January. ChM is pleased that NONET No. 2 was a success in the UK and also that [Nora] Grumlik and Fritz [Hertel?] performed SONATA D MOLL and CZECH RHAPSODIA. So Schneider-Schott must be the son she met in Paris, his name is Heinz. Her health is slowly improving and she hopes to be able to go to Brno. But she will not be able to exert herself too much. Mr. and Mrs. Špáček still have not returned to Prague, and she will write to them when she receives their letter. She would also like to know when THE SOLDIER AND THE DANCER will have its premiere in Olomouc. Karel Šebánek could call Jaroslav Mihul and tell him that ChM has received two files concerning Bohuslav Martinů. He is now waiting for the French translation. ChM would like to know if it would be possible to do something with the manuscripts of the CONCERT FOR VIOLONCELLO AND ORCHESTRA No.2 and also the SYMPHONY No.2. This matter could be dealt with by Erich Leinsdorf and George Szell, who could do a search in Cleveland. Boosey Publishing will send the Symphony edition to [Mirko] Pospisil. ChM has already let it be known that she has not received the edition, so KS can pick it up and keep it.
