ContentMartinů regrets the misunderstanding, but nothing can be done. Melantrich had the opportunity to publish TRE RICERCARI. Martinů made other offers that were advantageous to Melantrich, but was told that the publication of the music was being stopped. He had to secure his existence and publish the works elsewhere, even though Melantrich claimed that it was not worth publishing them - UE Wien was interested in THE SPALIER, THE PLAYS OF MARY and JULIET, which Martinů also thought was difficult to publish.
To make up for the advances, Martinů offers his compositions to Melantrich for printing. The royalties for these will be used to offset the advances already paid to him. He is negotiating with another publisher for the composition CONCERTO GROSSO. He asks to send the ROND score to UE Wien. UE London wants INVENCE and CONCERT FOR CEMBALO AND SMALL ORCHESTRA - Melantrich is to give its opinion.
