Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů has been working all the time and feels that he needs to rest. He will come to Europe in May and in June he will be in Brussels as a member of the Comitee for the Queen Elisabeth Competition. He is going back to their correspondence, he has two or three orch. pieces and chamber music: CONCERT FOR TWO VIOLINS AND ORCHESTRA, CONCERT FOR VIOLA [RAPSODY] and CONCERT FOR VIOLINS, PIANO AND ORCHESTRA ?, [CONCERTO DA CAMERA ?]. He will soon draw up a precise list for them. He would like to know if they are interested in the works and if they have received any news from Prague about possible UE representation for the opera JULIETTE. Do they have any new news from the Theatre Executive? Have they sent them the score? As he told them, he has the score, orch. material and English translation of this opera. Let him know if anything happens in this matter. He had the premiere on television of a short opera on Gogol's text [ZENITBA], which will hopefully be performed in Europe soon. He would be glad to receive news from them as soon as possible before he started for Paris in two months.

Notethe address of BM in New York is mentionned; initials 'mb' [Maria Bauer] in the left lower corner; 2 razítka; the promissed list of works is probably related to the scores returned from Boosey and Hawkes, see the letter from the 3rd of March 1953 (Id 4033)
