ContentBohuslav Martinů applies for financial support to enable him to continue his stay in Paris and to realise his new plans. He mentions the first performance of INVENTIONS at the Venice Festival, the premiere of SONATA in London by the Sonata Players, the premiere of TRIO in Paris, the performances of THE SPALICE in Prague and Brno, and work on a new opera, PLAYS ABOUT MARY, to be premiered in Brno on 28 February this year. Among other plans he mentions a CONCERT WITH ORCHESTRA, a CONCERT FOR HOUSEL AND ORCHESTRA, to be premiered by [Samuel] Dushkin in America. He discusses plans for a comic opera on a theme taken from [Nikolai] Gogol. He plans to dedicate a new orchestral work to the Princess de Polignac. Miasin [Leonid Myasin] of the Russian Ballet wants to discuss music for a ballet with BM. BM points out the artist's difficult position at the present time, when conditions in Germany do not permit the publication of his works and also Parisian publishers are waiting for a more opportune moment to publish new works. In order to avoid wasting time on compositions contrary to his principles, BM asks for help from the Office of the President of the Republic.
