Content and physical description
ContentMartinů sends the commissioned works: the SONATINA for violin and piano, the INTERMEZZO for violin and piano and the THURSDAYS AND EIGHTEENS. For INTERMEZZO Martinů sends a special introduction, which would have been well worth printing in the edition, in which he defends his decision to call the work INTERMEZZO and not 'Concertino' as requested. They are to enquire at OSA about contracts for commissioned works.
He is sending the score and material of the "Small Serenades" [SERENADA No. 1 A MOLL, SERENADA No. 2, SERENADA No. 3 and DIVERTIMENTO (SERENADA No. 4)] and the material of the CONCERT FOR KEYBOARD TRIO WITH MUSIC ORCHESTRA, and will send the score in a few days. Also the material and score of the INVENTIONS. Ansermet from Geneva also asked for the score of INVENTIONS, so Martinů will send it to him and Ansermet will send it to Melantrich. They are to send Martinů corrections of the SONATINA and INTERMESIS. He will write to Toman. He must have Martinů copy the SONATA FOR FLUTE, HOUSEL AND CLAVIER, then it will be available. He will write about the CONCERT FOR FLUTE, VIOLIN AND ORCHESTRA next time. INVENCIES is to be sent to the ČF (Martinů writes to Talich) and to Czechoslovak Radio in Prague, but the ČF has the first performance. Don't send anything to Brno, it's a waste of time.
