Content and physical description
ContentFritz Oeser announces to Charlotte Martinů that the Nationaltheater, Mannheim will premiere the opera TWELVE ALEXANDERS on 24.1.1964. The FO notes that the opera was written for French radio and that, to his knowledge, it has never been performed. The FO will not be going to the Prague Spring Festival that year, but his colleague Eric Spiess will meet with the dramaturge of the Brno theatre during the festival in Prague to discuss the premiere of DUKE ALEXANDER in exchange for providing material for PLAYS OF MARY. ES will go to Dilia in Prague and discuss an amendment to the contract for the opera MIRANDOLINA - he intends to negotiate a clause according to which the royalties due to ChM would be taken care of by the publishing house Bärenreiter, and to inquire why ChM does not generally reimburse royalties. The FO asks whether ChM has in its possession the score and parts for the composition CONCERT FOR VIOLONCELLO AND ORCH. No. 2. The FO says that their records irrefutably prove that the manuscript of the composition SONATA FOR FLUTEN was returned to the composer at the time. FO disputes Harry Halbreich's report that Boosey & Hawkes, Paris has become the agent of Bärenreiter, and informs ChM of the opening of a Paris branch of Bärenreiter, to be headed by Maria Bernstein, daughter of Karl Vötterle.
