Content and physical description
ContentCharlotte Martinů informs Paul [and Maja] Sacher that both books on Gilgamesh have been delivered to Bohuslav Martinů. BM thanks the addressees for them and tells them not to continue their search [refers apparently to the availability of the English edition of the Epic of Gilgamesh, see Sac 1948-12-16], BM will be able to find the book in the Princeton Library.
BM is still busy and works a little for himself in addition to teaching. He has just finished CONCERTANT SYMPHONY [No. 2], ChM gives its setting. Now BM is starting to write something for two pianos [THREE CZECH DANCES]. The local radio station also wants his little radio operas from 1935 [THE VOICE OF THE FOREST, VESELOHRA ON THE BRIDGE], which therefore need to be translated into English. Even JULIETTA has to be completely reworked, its English translation is very poor.
BM is in good health, only sometimes he has a headache, probably from fatigue and the sudden temperature fluctuations.
ChM and BM are looking forward to meeting the Sachers at the end of the summer. The Sachers don't need to wear warm clothes, it can be warm in New York until November.
The [Robert and Gaby] Casadesus of Princeton are leaving for Paris in early April and have offered the Martins to live in their house for that time. BM and ChM have no plans for the holidays as yet and a stay in the country would come in handy.
As the addressees know, Charles Munch underwent surgery in Havana during the tour. He will return to New York this week. Last Sunday, he conducted a concert in Cuba with Nicole Henriot.
Can the addressees bring in photographs taken by [Albert Yves] Bernard?
