Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů is concerned that the money from OSA be sent to Polička as soon as possible. He sent everything that Karel Šebánek recommended. BM wrote to the National Theatre to ask them to allow him to send HER O MARIA. He mentioned that KS was making a copy so that it would be sent at the same time as the orchestral voices. He forgot to add that they should send at least two piano lifts immediately. He would have the texts translated into English. The Metropolitan Opera was interested in the work; if the material arrived in time, they could perform the opera as early as next season. He asks how far along they are with getting a copy; BM needs to know. If KS needs more money, BM will release it immediately. He doesn't even have to ask, BM agrees to everything KS does. BM no longer has any copies of the ONE or TWO PAGE PAPERS, nor does he have a NEW PAPER. The FIELD MESS was a great success in Holland. He is thinking of doing a contract with G. Schirmer, Inc. for JULIETTE and perhaps other theatrical things with Hans Heinsheimer. KS is to wait to negotiate with Boosey & Hawkes. BM does not know if he will renew his contract with them for this year. They do a great press, but then they don't care much for the work. It seems to him that they haven't done anything, for example, in terms of Orbis and Melantrich. KS might get a better deal with them. BM doesn't know much about the London section. Ernst Roth was in [New York] but he was busy, they didn't meet. There's a lot of interest in [BM's] operas there, especially after the success of THE BRIDGE. BM may return to the label. Schott. KS is to tell him what he ordered from B&H and how much he paid them. It seems to him that they are not reporting to him as far as Europe is concerned. BM has learned that Antonin Cejka is in Paris. He wishes all the best for the New Year. He apologizes if he forgot to answer an important question, he does not have Shebanek's letter with him.
