Content and physical description
ContentCharlotte Martinů thanks Karel Šebánek for the address of [Jiří] Macek, whom she confused with [Zdeněk] Mácal. She is not in the best of health and does not know whether she will go to the Prague Spring Festival if no Bohuslav Martinů composition is performed there. She also read in Revue Musicale that the National Theatre will go to the Lucerne Festival, where they will perform works by Bedřich Smetana, Antonín Dvořák and Leoš Janáček. ChM telephoned the impresarios of [Josef] Páleníček and [Sasha] Večtomov. They were supposed to see each other in Paris, but ChM knew they would not stay there very long. She wanted to give him a package with scores for [Jaroslav] Mihul. Because [Jaroslav] Šeda had asked JM to write a book about BM, and JM did not have any scores. GL [Germaine Leroux] should also get in touch. In Paris, the CLAVIERNE QUINTET No. 2 and the CLAVIERNE QUARTET were performed. These two pieces should be recorded at Pathé. ChM also has pictures BM drew, telegrams and letters she received after his death - the nicest ones are in the Police Museum. She hopes that these documents will be found, she was there in 1966 and saw a big mess and regretted giving the materials to them. Among other things, she also gave them a critics album from New York and a plate with BM's name on it. ChM asks KS if he was the one who told her that the opera THREE WISHES was being prepared for the next season. She would also like to receive the Supraphon discs - CLAVER QUINTET, SEXTET and CONCERT FOR CLAVER AND ORCHESTRA NO. 2 performed by SV. ChM also asks that KS ask [Jaroslav] Seda on her behalf when the CONCERTO DA CAMERA disc recorded by Ronald Golan is scheduled for release. ChM has in fact promised the disc to [Marc] Pincherl of the Academie Charles Clos. ChM also sends a postcard from 1931 when they went to Neuilly-sur-Seine for a celebration together with Stanislav and Maria [Novak].
