Content and physical description
ContentRobert Vannoy thanks Miloš Šafránek for the postcard. RV regrets that the book on Bohuslav Martinů's theatre is not yet available in English. The disc of Martinů's SONATAS for Cello and Piano Nos. 1, 2 and 3 are among his favourite recordings. He has recently acquired two tapes of recordings of Martinů compositions: one is a recording of the GREEK PASSIONS in French, presumably from a French performance; the other contains Martinů's SYMPHONY No. 3 and CONCERTO GROSSO. RV has learned that Georg Solti and Josef Suk performed Martinů's MUSIC CONCERT [No. 1] in New York, although it was not the work [this is a performance of a newly discovered work at the time]. RV expresses regret at the death of Karl Ančerl. He is now playing recordings from records on a cassette recorder. The Czech Philharmonic will be playing in Portland, RV is preparing for this concert.
