Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů received the letter and both poems. They are beautiful and he sees the Highlands in them. But he won't have time to set them to music. He will be moving house and has to write a new piano concerto [CONCERT FOR PIANO AND ORCHESTRA No. 5] and he will also be busy with the opera [GREEK PASSIONS]. They haven't agreed to perform it in London, so it will probably be in Zurich next spring. He won't get to do the work he likes, and he doesn't mind Miloslav Bureš entrusting his poems to another composer at home, perhaps Václav Trojan. Perhaps this will be better for Bureš and he will get out of the ambiguous position of working with BM. Martinů thinks that it would be better if he were to take a break for a while, but he doesn't want to write why. BM has reports that Bures was in Polička. If he sees Karel Šebánek, he should tell him that BM is counting on a German-Czech textbook. He is to send it to a new address in Schönenberg. It will be there from the end of September. The others are not to send packages to Rome. How does Jan Kühn like the last romance [ROMANCE OF THE PAMPEL]? It's a little heavier than "The Well" [OPENING OF THE WELLS].

Mily priteli:

Take  ostatni odratte[16] mi zasilati ted balicky sem do Rima.

                                                                   Srdecne vas

B. Martinů
