Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů is concerned that he has not heard from Paul and Maja Sacher or his friends from Cannes.
This year BM has been appointed a professor at the Berkshire Festival thanks to Sergei Koussevitzky. SK has also commissioned a symphony from him [SYMPHONY No. 1]; it is now complete and will be performed in Boston during the season.
CONCERTO GROSSO has been performed several times and always with considerable success.
The conductors seem to be apprehensive about the DOUBLE CONCERTO.
SINFONIETTA GIOCOSA, which BM wrote in Aix-en-Provence, was premiered.
The violin concerto [CONCERTO DA CAMERA] has not yet been performed in America, although first-class performers are showing interest in the work.
BM wrote a KEYBOARD QUARTET and a new sonata for cello [SONATA No. 2].
However, he is having difficulty getting used to it, and Charlotte Martinů even worse.
He received critical acclaim for his Basel performance of the violin concerto [CONCERTA DA CAMERA] and is pleased that it was a success.
Henri Honegger premiered the SONATA DA CAMERA in Geneva and informed the writer that the piece was well received.
The writer's English is improving, especially in Berkshire he had to make his English arrangements.
The Boosey and Hawkes publishing house will issue a DOUBLE CONCERT.
Does PS know anything about Marcel Mihalovici and Tibor Harsányi? If PS receives a copy of Cello Sonata No. 1, he should send it to the writer.
Time passes quickly for them [with ChM], they may be back next winter, they would like that very much.
Has PS heard from the Schott publishers?
They are now returning to New York but have no address; BM gives the address of the Czechoslovak Consulate.
ChM's note - regards.
