ContentThe premiere of JULIETTE was delivered by Václav Talich splendidly and the work was discussed widely; it was received very well, especially by young people. Bohuslav Martinů regrets the addressee’s decision concerning the CONCERTO GROSSO. At the moment, he has no specific plans; he will probably write a CONCERTINO FOR PIANO AND ORCH. In Switzerland, his DUO CONCERTANTE had a big success. He has sent TRE RICERCARI for the Festival in Venice. SONATE FOR FLUTE, VIOLIN AND PIANO was played in Paris. He has completed the FOUR MADRIGALS for Trio d’anches de Paris. These compositions may interest the addressee probably more.
He asks for additional copies of string parts for CONCERTO FOR VIOLONCELLO AND ORCHESTRA No. 1, there is to little sound currently. If the addressee decides to publish the score, Martinů would like to do some modifications to make the solo part more audible.
He asks to send him the score of CONCERTO GROSSO to Paris, he will need it soon.
