Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů should have already received a letter from Orlice, which was sent to him just after the concert [7 January 1956 in Polička?]. The photographs will be sent to OPUS later. Zdeněk Zouhar wonders if anyone has ever done the vocal things BM sent him from Nice last year (THREE SACRED SONGS, FIVE CZECH MADRIGALS). Perhaps BM will forgive them for having changed the English title "3 sacred songs" to "3 madrigal songs". They promise to perform at least one BM song at each concert. Perhaps BM cares more about the performance of his SYMPHONY No. 6, for example, but it is these vocal works set to words of folk poetry that have received the most attention from audiences. According to ZZ, these are BM's masterpieces, especially "Geese on the Water" and "On the Way to the Beloved" [from the series FIVE CZECH MADRIGALS]. He looks forward to a possible meeting at the Prague Spring Festival. Perhaps BM could also come to Brno. In the meantime, they will perform STUDENTS in the Highlands. Talked to [František] Smetana about SONATA FOR CELLO AND CLAVIER No. 3, hopefully they will get it to Brno. He describes his idea of how KYTICI can be performed by a chamber ensemble. OPUS will have its 30th anniversary in the autumn.
