Content and physical description
ContentVítězslava Kaprálová is dismayed by the number of errors in her April Preludes, which she received from the Music Matrix for proofreading. They were corrected together with Bohuslav Martinů, especially the second prelude was full of errors, so they will have to print them again. Václav Kaprál is responsible for many of them. On Sunday morning they went to Cheville [Chantilly] together with Josef Páleníček, Edgar Hauner and Líba Houžvičková. In the evening the VK had dinner at the Martinů's and played RICCERKARI, SPALÍČKA, PLAYS ABOUT MARIA, TRIO [FOUR MADRIGALS?], JULLIET and older pieces. In her biography, VK wrote that she was studying with BM "to help him gain a reputation and a place at the conservatory" ("But he [BM] doesn't know about it."). She also wrote there that she planned to finish her studies with Alois Hába. She has not yet sent the Variations on Ettient du Mont [Six Small Variations on the Bells of the Church of St-Étiene du Mont in Paris] to Václav Kapral; he still needs to rework them. Martinů likes this piece very much. Today VíK is going to see Don Juan at the opera. She definitely still has to get another scholarship to Paris next year, there is much she would like to do there.
