Content and physical description
ContentNever mind that Robert Vannoy's letter to Charlotte Martinů was delayed. The important thing is that it arrived.
ChM saw Diederik Cornelius Dignus De Jong again in the summer and was delighted to meet him. DCDDJ was busy translating her book "My Life with Bohuslav Martinů". Unfortunately, he still has not found an editor, but hopefully it can be done. He promised Charlotte that he would send a tape with SYMPHONY No. 3 and CONCERT GROSS to the addressee. ChM has no news of him now, apparently he is busy.
There is now a new record company in Prague, Panton, and ChM gives the address and the records that have been released there: the SMITH QUARTET No. 2 performed by the Talich Quartet and the CLAVER CONCERT No. 2. RV can order them [sentence unfinished, part of letter missing?]
They had a nice summer this year. But winter and illness are coming. ChM was unable to attend the premiere of the CONCERT FOR VIOLINS AND ORCHESTRA [No. 1] in Prague on 8 and 9 November, performed by Václav Neumann and Josef Suk. The work was also premiered in Chicago on 28 [25 and 27] October, performed by Josef Suk and conducted by Georg Solti. Supraphon in Prague has made a record of the piece and it should be released soon. The piece is now in manuscript and will be published by Supraphon.
He wishes the addressee good health for the New Year and leaves greetings to Nicholas and Libuše Marovy.
