Content and physical description
ContentAlthough František Bartoš did not write to Bohuslav Martinů for a long time, he was nevertheless informed about him by Karel Novák and Jan Löwenbach. He also visited Polička twice during the holidays and met František and Maria Martinů. He hopes that BM has recovered from his injury. He regrets that it will not be possible for him to come to the festival [Prague Spring], but hopefully they will meet in the autumn or summer in Polička. When he was there, he climbed 'both times like a true Wagnerian pilgrim to Beethoven up the church tower'. František Popelka takes good care of the BM Hall in the museum. He wrote about the visit in the Revue Musicale and sends a clipping. It was written earlier and not everything in the article came true. The 4th SYMFONIA was played only once in Paris, but they still played the VIOLONCELL CONCERT with Pierre Fournier, Václav Talich has not yet played the 3rd SYMFONIA, but Rafael Kubelík performed the 4th SYMFONIA in London and Cracow. Paul Sacher will come and perform with ČF DVOJKONCERT. He is also looking forward to the 5th. SYMFONIA, which will be at the last festival concert. Apparently BM has not received anything from the festival committee yet, but it will come in the next few days. He may have received a voucher from the President's office by telegram, but that has nothing to do with the 5th Symphony. Only a few people know about it and when he sends a message to the President's office he shouldn't mention it. On the other hand, when he writes to CF, he shouldn't mention the President's office. CF then BM doesn't need to show extra gratitude, in America he would get disproportionately more. And the voucher from the Ministry of Education that will follow has nothing to do with any of this either. It should all be kept secret because of the envy of colleagues. Miloš Šafránek promised an analysis of the 5th SYMPHONY, could BM add something more personal about its creation? It is also necessary to send a few photos. FB hopes the score is on its way. If it is in time, Karel Šebánek wants to publish it in score and voices, but this is a matter of agreement between BM and Šebánek. LIDICE has certainly already been sent to him by Šebánek. FB will soon be able to send a separate article by BM, which will be published with Stanislav Novak's lecture and Jan Löwenbach's article in Tempo's Little Library. Does BM get Tempo? Did he get the numbers with his article and the honorarium for it?
