Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů is very happy to hear from Marcel Mihalovici that he is not losing courage and is still devoting himself to music, and hopes that he has already received his letter. He thanks him for the information about his compositions, and is reassured that MM has nothing to do with them, it is best to leave them where they are. BM will make do with the songs he has with him and which he writes. He finished CONCERTO DA CAMERA and sent it to Paul Sacher for [the concert] on 6 January 1942. He thinks Huberman will play it. BM will premiere SINFONIETTA and CONCERTA GROSSA under Koussevitzky; the following month he may meet Toscanini. Mr. and Mrs. Martin have not returned to New York because it is too debilitating; they are in the vicinity and commuting. He gives his Long Island (N.Y.) address. They are slow to learn English, as all their friends speak French. If MM can, have him find out information on Mr. Louis Vautier in Paris (+ address) who has been moving their things, BM is particularly interested in his piano and furniture. MM is also to tell Pierre Fournier to send a copy of SONATA DA CAMERA to the sender, and Marcelle de Lacour to send a copy of CONCERT FOR CEMBALO. BM will need these two pieces here, the others can wait until he returns. He had a parcel (of chocolates) sent to the addressee from friends in Lisbon. BM has not met either Tansman or Goldbeck. He would like to know what songs are in rue du Dragon (Paris).
