ContentBohuslav Martinů will stay in Europe for another year. He follows up on his previous letter and is considering the possibility of having some of his things published at home. The most important question is the question of his fee, whether it would be possible to get the money abroad or whether it would remain in the bank in Prague. The same question also concerns the materials of his compositions. He doesn't know how Ernst Roth's negotiations with Artia went, but if they signed a contract, perhaps Boosey & Hawkes would welcome something being published elsewhere and in their catalogue. After all, B&H now specialise in symphonic works and BM operas. BM has written a new double PETRKLICH, and there might be some chamber stuff [not specific]. From the house of [?] Karel Šebánek they ask for information about PLAYS ABOUT MARY. The work has not been published and BM considers it loose. Regarding THE SPALICE, BM does not know if there will be as much interest in ballets as in operas. They [SHV] should no longer "stun" him that they have published material for SERENADES, they are small things. KYTICE could also be published, but it would be necessary to get a good translation (German or English), not like the translation of THE FIELD MASS or JULIETTE, which BM had to have redone. Again he asks for a copy of the contract with Melantrich. KS is to pay attention to Jan Novak from Brno in the [CHF] fund, BM thinks he is a promising talent, one of the best he knows at home.
