Content and physical description
ContentAlfred Schlee describes the problems associated with publishing works for harpsichord: the contract for THREE CZECH DANCES for two pianos was cancelled and Bohuslav Martinů gave them TWO COMPOSITIONS for harpsichord from 1935 and TWO IMPROMPTAS for harpsichord instead. They have had these manuscripts with them for a long time. The compositions will soon be published, but he is concerned about Charlotte Martinů's information that TWO IMPROMPTU were published by Max Eschig. He therefore sends her a copy of TWO IMPROMPTU to make sure that it is indeed this piece. He also sends her the contracts for these harpsichord pieces and asks her to sign them. (In a note below the letter, they add that they also have a manuscript of the 1958 SONATA for harpsichord, and since this work does not belong to them, it is possible that there was a misunderstanding and that the SONATA was published by Eschig and not TWO IMPROMPTU.) As for the performance of the GREEK PASSIONS, she did not get a listing of them because of difficulties with the German translator. AS promises to put the matter right in a few days. Finally, he informs her about the theatrical performances.
