Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů writes to Charlotte Martinů that he has received her letter from Paris and regrets that she has seen so few people and that the journey was tiring. He advises her not to stress about things she needs to take care of, except for the CONCERT FOR CEMBALO, which BM desperately needs for publication and recording. They are expecting Rudolf [Firkušný] this week.
He complains of the unbearable heat and humidity in New York. Informs ChM that [Marie] Machacek is in better health, so they will leave [for Europe] on time. Asked [Alexander] Russell's family to write ChM directly for an address, but no one has responded.
BM has a new student from Brno [it is Jan Novak] who was at Tanglewood with [Aaron] Copland. BM has received music from Urbanek label in Prague and is addressing the shortcomings at Boosey & Hawkes, where [Hans] Heinsheimer was fired. Hopefully they will now work better with Melantrich.
Notifies ChM to tell Charles [Munch] that he has the score [SYMPHONY No. 3] and that the New York Philharmonic will pay for the rental of the orchestral material. [Ernest] Ansermet plays his SYMPHONY [No. 5]. He took care of the material himself, but in any case he also wrote BM to Karel [Novák].
