Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů informs Charlotte Martinů that the letters were delayed due to his departure from Keene Valley and Frank [Rybka] forgot to give them to him. BM confirms that ChM will pick up with FR at the airport on 29 [Sept]. Complains of unbearable heat and noise from adjacent building. ChM is to write to Charles [Munch] that he can keep the score of SYMPHONY No. 3, BM will send [Václav] Talich another. [Sergei] Koussevitzky has married and is now in Paris. ChM can write to Melantrich or [Karl] Shebanek, but it is necessary to make arrangements with Mr. Marinetti of Eshig. He must apply to Associated Music Publishers for material for a CONCERT FOR TWO PIANOS AND ORCHESTRA. Marineti can also expedite the other pieces: the Sonata for Violin and Piano, the Sextet, the Flute Compositions [probably the SONATA FOR VIOLIN AND PIANO No. 2, the SMITH SEXTET, the MADRIGAL SONATA, the TRIO FOR FLUTE, VIOLONCELLO AND PIANO, and the SONATA FOR FLUTE AND PIANO]. Just request a catalogue from Associated Publishers. BM further advises ChM not to go to Paris because of Uncle Zaza [Jan Zrzavy] who behaved inappropriately towards [Alain] Divis. He has not heard from [Alexander] Russel. He has no news from [Jan] Svec, who may have gone to Canada. Frank [Rybka] has family problems. Everyone is starting to return to New York, which means more phone calls. BM advises ChM to start making arrangements to return and send packages to Czechoslovakia.
Marie Machacek is desperate for health problems and is waiting for the results of her x-ray. Mrs Honegger [Andrée Vaurabourg] telegraphed that [Arthur] Honegger had a second attack, it is serious. BM wants to visit them at Lenox, they are both there alone. BM asks when they will move to Pierrefonds.
