| Content | Richard Klos apologizes for not being able to write a detailed letter to Charlotte Martinů for a long time. He has been very busy, but he is not complaining because the work of promoting the work of Bohuslav Martinů is worthwhile. Today he spoke with "a young lady director" [Olga] Bartonkova [Janáček], she is interested in staging SLZ NOŽE in collaboration with young artists.
He sent the programme of the Prague Spring to RK together with his letter of 15 May [1977]. ChM must have noticed that this year BM's work is represented rather subtly. However, they must bear in mind that this year's edition is dedicated to Beethoven, which had an impact on the programme.
On 24 May [1977] RK attended a performance of the opera TWELVE ALEXANDERS in Prague. He met Podhajska there and they agreed that the event would contribute to the promotion of BM's work.
Occasionally, ChM would receive requests from the Bohuslav Martinů Society from musical ensembles, especially chamber ensembles, as they would want to name themselves after BM. A long article by my colleague [Milena] Dosoudilová about the founding of the Society was published in the magazine Tvorba, which caused a great response and many people then joined the Society.
The notes from Eschig arrived, RK forwarded them to Sasha Večtomov. Dr. Lippold has also already received everything he needed from the CHF. [Peter] Hanser-Strecker of Schott Publishing thanks for the comment on the RITORNELS, they will be reprinted so the problem will be corrected.
"One of our most eminent painters" [?] has completed and already exhibited a series of paintings on themes from BM compositions. She wants to donate a print on the JULIETTE theme to ChM - RK will send it to her via the Embassy as soon as possible.
Lorenc is concerned about ChM's health, so hopefully she will be better soon. Dr Bozděchová recommends Františkovy Lázně.
Pierre Vidal wrote that he wanted to show his film about BM in May [1977] in Vieux-Moulin. RK hopes it was successful, and is waiting for negatives of footage of BM.
He also has some unpleasant news. Paul Sacher refuses to cooperate in the transport of BM's remains [from Switzerland to Polička]. RK will therefore have to use other means. [Josef] Páleníček intends to visit ChM at the end of the summer, so he will explain everything to her.
He is sending three booklet plates with illustrations by [Jan] Zrzavý. |
