Content and physical description
ContentThe article entitled "The Great Success of B. Martinů's 'Concerto Grosso' in New York. It is probably a transcription or a draft of a CTK article whose author could be Jan Löwenbach. The author describes the success of the first performance of CONCERTO GROSSO in New York by Sergei Koussevitzky and the Boston Symphony Orchestra on 10 January [1942] at Carnegie Hall in New York. The audience applauded the work, the performers and the composer present with a heartfelt ovation. SK premiered the work in Boston the previous November [1941] and performed it in Brooklyn on January 9, 1942. The author cites the laudatory reviews of the New York Times, the New York Herald Tribune, the New York Sun, the P.M., and the New York World-Telegram. The next new thing SK will present will be a DOUBLE CONCERT. The premiere of SINFONIETTO GIOCOSO's latest work, composed last year, will be given in New York on April 7 [1942] by the National Orchestral Association Orchestra conducted by Leon Barzin. The soloist will be Germaine Leroux, to whom the piece is dedicated.
