Content and physical description
ContentThey haven't heard from Karel Šebánek for a long time, so they're getting in touch. They got a message from the director [Antonín] Šulc that KS has been on the road for a week and he sends his regards to the Martin family, and that he will be visiting them on 17.2. Bohuslav Martinů wrote that KS would bring the Dutch diploma and that KS had arranged for the bust to be sent as well. They would like to know if anything could be found out from "that London firm" of B[oosey] and H[awkes]. BM is said to be terribly impractical, writes that B&H are silent, and leaves it at that, not realising that he is doing him a disservice - there would be interest in Brno for LOCANDRIA (MIRANDOLINA) and for JULIET - he was asked two years ago and has not been heard from. They have taken all the scores home from the Savings Bank, so everything will be available to KS. He also asks BM where his money goes and how it is arranged that he has no contract - perhaps KS will explain this to him himself. He has already received the records [with OPENING STUDIES], they were not sent until 23 Jan. He was very happy. he is looking forward to having the film sent to him as well. They photographed and filmed both František Martinů and Maria Martinů at the opening, perhaps the likeness is on display at their place in Pařížská Street - could KS obtain it? She would be happy to give it to the film for safekeeping. They are very worried about BM's right hand, it's being treated badly there (or not at all), what would it mean for BM. He and FM say it would be best for him to come to CSR to have his hand treated, where it would be better cared for. However, they can't have that effect on him, couldn't KS explain it better? They are very worried. He begs to remember them with a copy of the STUDY. Soon after KS's visit to them, Jindřiška Martinů went to the hospital, so they all took turns there. They are full of newspapers of the SONGS, hopefully they will hear something about them. He thinks that except for the scores, which are with KS and in the Museum, he has everything at home except DIVADLO ZA BRÁNOU, which is still on the Brno radio, and FANTASIE FOR TWO Claviers, which is with Jan Novák. They are looking forward to KŠ writing something new for them. She also asks if he would like to take the voices for DANCE SUITE to Prague, they have them "In Private" so they would take them home.
