Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů and his wife are now back in Rome. From Switzerland he received a commission for a concert [FANTASIA CONCERTANTE. CONCERT FOR PIANO AND ORCHESTRA No. 5]. He was also in the mountains, which was really refreshing in this heat. He is now composing again, but his hand still hurts - he will be treated in Switzerland and then go to Rome again. In Rome he would then like to meet David Diamond, unless his plans have changed. He hopes DD is well. It is clear that he would rather like the Academy [American Academy in Rome] to be located in the more interesting Florence instead of Rome. BM made great use of the library services there, especially the Roman history pages. He misses it very much, as well as news from friends: [Clemens] Brenatan and Scibner [Olga Schneeberger]. He will be back in Schoenberg from October. There he will premiere EPOS OF GILGAMES, and then the GREEK PASSIONS will be performed in Zurich.
