Content and physical description
ContentI liked the opening of the studios. A lot of people cried, including Václav Talich. The party held in "our rooms" [Czech Music Fund?] was not a public concert. It will probably not be until February in the Smetana Hall or in the Rudolfinum. The Brno concert was cancelled. It had to be done this way so that the filmmakers could get an idea. [Jiří] Trnka didn't come in the end. Yesterday Karel Šebánek received the completed score of HALF-TIME, the matrices of the piano lift of KYTICE and the three scores of SPALICE, which he immediately handed over to Dilio, and finally the matrices of CONCERTINA [for piano and orchestra], beautifully produced at the request of Jan Novák, whose Eliška [Nováková] plays the piece, but BM does not want to perform [CONCERTINO], so neither the piano lift nor the score has been published yet. KŠ has made a copy of all the material for KYTICA and will gradually do so with the other pieces, starting with HALF-TIME. In a way KS celebrated BM's birthday. He just regrets that SNKLU did nothing (and has no plans for the next years). Miloslav Bures became more visible thanks to BM. Zdeněk Zouhar will have to prepare for the premiere [OPENING OF THE STUDIOS] in Polička. The main thing is to have enough children's voices. KS discovered 4 manuscript scores of BM's film music (except MARIJKA NEVĚRNICE), which he is now trying to obtain. In 1951 they were put into collection together with the whole film archive. However, someone hid the scores and then sold them. BM probably didn't even get a royalty for everything. Could they send him a copy of the reply from the [National?] Museum? Maybe we need to pursue the matter further. KS is looking forward to performing the STUDIES in Polička and to meeting them. Did František Martinů receive money from the Artists' Fund? He wishes them and Maria Pražanová a Merry Christmas.
