Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů tells [Wilhelm Strecker] that he is in Europe for a while and may have the opportunity to meet him. How is he doing?
He asks about plans for the CONCERT FOR VIOLONCELLO [No. 1], which Pierre Fournier has with him. Several cellists have recently asked the composer about material and he has referred them to Eschig or Schott.
On the same subject he received a letter from August Wenzinger of Basel, who had included the piece in his programme in Switzerland but had to cancel it because he could not find the material. It will be necessary to make the piece available to other cellists who have scored it and cannot play it. BM is glad PF has it in his repertoire, he is a friend and the best cellist working today. However, he has had it for a long time and something needs to be done about it. BM hasn't received royalties from performances for several years. He is a member of ASCAP. They don't control the Schott publishing company, but they see that BM is not getting anything. [?]
BM asks how the situation can be resolved.
Furthermore, BM has no news from Schott regarding other compositions. There are enquiries about his compositions for piano RITORNELY and "Trio" [PIANO TRIO No. 1]. He is also not receiving royalties for the orchestral works "Serenade" [SERENAD FOR CHAMBER ORCHESTRA] and PARTITU.
Couldn't Schott represent chamber music in Europe that was published by AMP in New York? Many people have asked BM about this.
BM gives his Paris address.
