Content and physical description
ContentThe writer thanks the firm of Boosey & Hawkes for their letters of 13 July and 23 August 1954 concerning the joint representation of Bohuslav Martinů's stage works. They are only now writing from Dilia, as they were waiting for B&H's arrangement with Aria to be accommodated.
The territorial scope could be divided between B&H and Dilia in a similar way to the B&H-Artia agreement. Dilia will send a final decision soon. He hopes that both parties will provide each other with the issued materials.
In a previous letter, B&H wrote that it has the rights to the operas THE MARRIAGE (based on Gogol), WHAT PEOPLE LIVE (based on Tolstoy) and MIRANDOLINA (based on Goldoni), which it has published. What did BM do with THE GREAT GIRL ON THE BRIDGE?
Dilia had planned to reproduce the material for JULIET for this year, but the material was sent from Czechoslovakia to the composer, who has not yet returned it. Dilia would appreciate it if B&H could help her get the material from BM. BM wrote to Dilia on July 15, 1954 that he had it in New York and could return it within two months.
