Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů thanks for the letters. He was well received in New York, they organized a reception and he already has many contacts. He is well-known and appreciated here. They are looking for an inexpensive flat and a piano. They were not able to salvage any manuscripts or clothing and they haven’t mastered the language, but that will come. Koussevitzky will conduct the premiere of the CONCERTO GROSSO in Boston, Rodzinski the CONCERTO FOR STRING QUARTET AND ORCHESTRA in Cleveland, Mitropoulos wants to do the DOUBLE CONCERTO next season, a new „Symphony“ for piano and small orchestra [SINFONIETTA GIOCOSA] will be done in Philadelphia. BM will rest now, these last few days with all the social visits were demanding. BM has nothing with him for Richard Odnopos, but he will look for published works. His compatriots welcomed BM warmly, but there is not a lot of money here and clothes are expensive. Could Pavel Deutsch speak to some benefactors in Europe, to see if they might be able to help him out? Any amount is welcome. Both Charlotte and he send regards and hope that PD will be able to help them.
