Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů informs Charlotte Martinů that he has telephoned [André] Beauseigneur about the account, but will need to meet him in person.
BM describes his daily routine of getting up early and having to keep the windows open at night because of the heat and noise. He visited [Jan] Schweets who was very nice and sends ChM many greetings. They will go to Darien, not to Mario [Korbel]'s but to the hotel. BM finished the second sentence [TOCCATY E DUE CANZONI] for [Paul]
Sacher and the Prague Philharmonic asked him to premiere some of his works, which Karel [Novák] corrected him about. BM is about to leave for the Berkshires, looking forward to going there. [Sergei] Koussevitsky replied that they wanted to premiere a piece, so BM would offer SYMPHONY No. 3 to [Eugene] Ormandy and SYMPHONY No. 5 to SK if they promised to perform it in New York. Richard [Burgin] will perform TRE RICERCARI in Tanglewood and [Pierre] Monteux will perform SYMPHONY No. 4 in Los Angeles. BM will also go to Columbus Avenue to arrange "first papers". He is glad to see ChM resting in Vieux-Moulin, plans to join her in the fall. The tenant that Etienne recommended is very nice and independent. BM plans to visit Mr. Martink and to represent [Alain] Divis, who is having problems with the State Department but will probably be able to stay thanks to a study grant. He also has to catch [Georg] Szell somewhere. [Frank] Rybka is looking forward to a vacation with BM, he has also been invited by the Svec family to Darien in August, but BM may stay in the Berkshires due to the move to Tanglewood.
