ContentBohuslav Martinů thanks you for your letter. He was waiting for the moment when he would have some results, but the negotiations are taking a long time and they still don't have a visa [with Charlotte Martinů].
He thanks for the money. He has already written to the bank. Hopefully he will be able to pay Sacher back someday.
Today he received 5,000 francs from the bank.
Their missing luggage with clothes and some manuscripts, including material and part of the score of the DOUBLE CONCERT, has also been delivered. BM would like the American premiere of DVOJKONCERT to be conducted by PS.
Regarding the CONCERTO GROSS, BM rejoiced prematurely: the package with the sheet music is not in Hautes-Pyrénées, but remains in Nevers in the custody of a friend who will write to Louis Wauthier in Paris. BM asked Wauthier to send the manuscript score to Universal Edition immediately. He has received the material with his luggage, which he will keep with him until the score is safely delivered to UE. PS is to write to UE and ask if they have received the manuscript of the score; BM will then send him the material immediately.
They have already had news of ChM's parents: they have returned to Vieux Moulin and their house has not suffered serious damage. He encloses a letter for them.
BM has been working hard and has almost finished the "Sinfonia" [SINFONIETTA GIOCOSA] for piano and chamber orchestra in four movements, then intends to write something for cello and small orchestra [SONATA DA CAMERA], Preludes and Fugues for string quartet, and also has a vague idea for a cantata.
