| Content | Bohuslav Martinů apologizes for the delay in answering, he was busy. He hasn't received the package from Washington yet. He is happy that LES RONDES is published. BM has placed an urgent order with Boosey & Hawkes for Karel Šebánek. He doesn't understand how this matter relates to his money and compositions, or how or why B&H would delay decisions regarding his income or the release of his works at home. BM would like to know which ministry to approach to request the loan of JULIETTE material from the National Theatre, as Jindřich Honzl wrote to him about. He thinks that Paul Sacher is planning the performance. All other terms would be arranged with the conductor, the theatre or B&H. However, BM needs to know if the material will be available before he discusses the whole thing. Based on some newspaper reports, he doubts whether KS will be able to continue publishing his works. He is looking forward to the SPALIK. He asks KS to supervise the performance of his theatrical affairs at home and to send royalties to his siblings in Polička. He asks if anything has happened in the matter of the payment of his money, and whether there is any hope that he will at least be allowed to make monthly payments. He would also like to receive a statement from OSY, just to let him know how much he is losing. He would need at least two or three scores of the FIELD MASS. BM admits that he has been lazy all year, and suddenly got four orders, so now he is catching up. He won't be going to Europe this year. He asks who made THE BRIDGE OF THE BRIDGE, in what language, and where the royalties go. He asked the Academy to send his prize (10,000 CZK) to America. KS asks if it would be better to send it to Polička. |
