Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů received a questionnaire confirmed by the consulate. He believes it will help them. BM is interested in the approximate cost of a copy of the score of JULIETTE. He doubts that it would be suitable for a conductor from a practical point of view. Karel Šebánek should always remind BM that the manuscript of the score is BM's property, even if it is with the publisher. He reminds us of the publisher's rights and obligations regarding this manuscript. Performing (Juliette) at home is not an option at this time. BM doesn't like the idea of the publisher keeping the autograph while he gets a copy. BM has promised the manuscript to several conductors, including Paul Sacher. He regrets not getting a copy himself at his own expense and taking the manuscript. He doesn't fully understand the Boosey & Hawkes contract, but says Ralph Hawkes will negotiate it directly [with Melantrich]. BM confirms that the 7.5 per cent share is enough for him, he would hate to see the signing of the contract delayed. B&H won't agree to higher percentages and BM would rather have less money on hand than put money in the bank that he can't get to. As to the amount of money he was allowed to go to Paris, he found that a similar case had happened with the painter František Kupka, and he had received his money. So why not him? KS asked for confirmation that he had received his previous letter asking for support from his own money. The PUPPETS could have a new edition when they are sold.
