ContentBohuslav Martinů accepts the proposal in principle, but only asks for the advance payment to be increased to 5,000 francs. As regards that which will be best for the publisher, he leaves the choice up to him; he would like the addressee to confirm that at least two compositions will be published annually, one of them a large piece; and he wants for himself a “relative freedom” for the case that other commissions appear. When it comes to the Nachtmusik, it is possible to leave simply the title SERENÁDA. When it comes to the LES RONDES, he might find a publisher for them. He will probably not have the JAZZ SUITE published at all. He would be very glad if the addressee took charge of his operas.
