Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů writes to Charlotte Martinů about his return from Tanglewood. On his return he took a day's rest because he was very tired. He describes that it was unbearably hot in Tanglewood and the place was crowded with people. The food in Lenox was terrible and expensive, which made many people unhappy. He stayed there for five days, but if [Sergei] Koussevitzky had not performed CONCERTO GROSSO, he would have stayed for a shorter time. The performance was magnificent. The big news is that SK and Olga got married and went to Europe on the "Queen", maybe ChM will meet them in Paris.
No news on the Zighers, they are probably leaving on the same ship. He is staying in Pittsfield to be in better contact with his lawyer. The Laurents are apparently already in France but didn't end up going to Compiègne. BM is feeling well but his head is heavy at times. Wonders if ChM has seen Charles [Munch], if he has received the score [SYMPHONY NO. 5] from [Earl] George, and also if he has a date for the performance of SYMPHONY NO. 3. He asks how things are going in Pierrefonds. He has no news from Rudolf [Firkušný].
