Content and physical description
ContentPaul Sacher wishes Bohuslav and Charlotte Martin all the best for the New Year. He hopes that BM is under no illusions about Prague, where life is completely changed. PS wonders if BM would be better off in Paris. PS [with Maja Sacher] didn't go to Paris for Christmas, they were in the mountains for a few days; they probably won't come next time either. PS was pleased to hear that BM had finished the CONCERTANT SUITE FOR MUSIC AND ORCHESTRA for Samuel Dushkin. It would have been lovely if they had released a DOUBLE CONCERT on Universal Edition. However, PS hopes that BM will book him for a premiere, which he would do during the 1939/40 season [performed by BKO on 9/2/1940]. Hans Lukas Hoffmann has been ill for ten days now, with severe pneumonia, but the worst is over.
