Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů explains the longer pause because his typewriter was broken. Also during their stay in Paris, both he and Charlotte Martinů got the flu and are now unable to get along. In addition, ChM got bronchitis. BM just coughs, sneezes and swears. Everything had to stop, even the Clavier Concerto [No. 5] and the opera [Greek Passions], because BM couldn't get to Zurich because of his illness. BM thanks for the letters and for the reviews. He has news that Moravan had success in Brno with THE HORSE OF THREE LIGHTS. BM thanks for the photo with Palestrina, glad VV took them there to see it. BM is just lounging around now and it will be hard to get him back to work. BM looks out the window at the sky and like a good American, curses the US administration and the President for getting jumped by Sputnik. Paris was spectacular, except for the flu. Now they're adapting to a new environment in the hills where it's real quiet.
