Content and physical description
ContentJindřich Honzl thanks for his letters of 6 and 20 January 1946. The parcels have not yet arrived, according to reports from friends, parcels from the USA are lost regularly. From the beginning of the war he often thought of Bohuslav Martinů, he met with his tireless promoter [Karel Šebánek], who sold music at Orbis on Wenceslas Square during the war. JH describes feelings of despair and sees Stalingrad as a major turning point in the war. After May 1945, JH recommended BM's stuff to the new ND opera report; both Krombholz and Jeremias told him they wanted to give Martinů, but didn't know what. Hába told him at the opera on 5 May that in their general programme they had announced PLAYS ABOUT MARY, even conductor Kašlík was keen on it, but they didn't know if they would get round to it. BM chamber works were given in the previous year, this year II. BM will send the Hidden, but he would not agree with the choice of subject.
