Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů tells Jindřich Honzl that he has only just received a reply from Anvers. He thinks that the conditions of the ballet will be very difficult for the Mánes, because a small orchestra is needed to cover the ballet's expenses. It would be best to leave it until September when he comes to Prague. As far as MARIKEN is concerned, Nezval has not sent anything. BM didn't want to waste time, so he turned to H. Ghéon, who had already worked on the piece before. He was sorry now, for he would certainly have arranged with Fisher. He regrets that he has to do it on the French text. He wonders whether Fischer would like to take on the adaptation. BM will probably have to do two different versions. He used to like to do it with Nezval, but he doesn't like to stay with one thing too long and can't afford it without an annuity. He asks JH about his film and holiday plans. BM is working on MARIKEN with a lot of gusto, he's just bothered by the text, it takes him somewhere else than he wants. He liked H's recent translations. Jelinek's translations, is considering translating MARIKEN for him. He is looking forward to taking a break from work in Prague.
