Content and physical description
ContentCharlotta Martinů thanks Robert Vannoy for his wishes and wishes him a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
She apologises for the delay in replying to his letter of 12 October 1972. She has been dealing with very confused matters concerning Bohuslav Martinů.
She was in Brno to hear an opera BM wrote forty years ago [THREE WISHES]. This opera will be performed in Lyon in May. GREEK PASSIONS will be performed in March "1972" [1973] in Rouen. ChM is looking forward to hearing them in French. Too bad the tape recording of this piece doesn't work on the addressee's tape recorder. Perhaps RV can ask Professor Diederik Cornelius Dignus De Jong, who also received a tape of the GREEK PASSIONS from ChM. ChM will get advice after the holidays on how to solve the problem.
When ChM was in Prague for the concert of the Clavier Concerto No. 3 in a great interpretation by Josef Páleníček, Miloš Šafránek spotted her during the interval and jumped back, he must have been afraid of her. He still bought the manuscripts.
Supraphon promised to publish her book in French, but it always takes a long time.
It's cold, ChM was sick at the beginning of December. She will have to go to Switzerland over the holidays and meet her lawyer there about her manuscript, that's the flip side of things.
BM got a beautiful medal from the Coin and Medal Administration. It's a lovely gesture on France's part.
