ContentMarie Martinů replies to the letter of 24 April in place of Fanouš [František Martinů], who left today for Pardubice for an examination due to the loss of his eyesight. MM herself has recently returned from hospital after pneumonia. MM tries to explain to B[ohuslav Martinů] the difficult situation in the CSR and the sacrifice of [Karel Šebánek] in every letter, but apparently without success. MM thanks KS instead of his brother. He knows that no one else would have taken up the cause so selflessly. He will pay the amount for copying the score if necessary. BM's pupil J[an] Novák procured in Brno the score and piano extract of the opera-film THREE WISHES and the score of THE THEATRE BEHIND THE GATE with the stamp of the National Theatre Brno, where it was performed. JN will occasionally bring from Brno the score of THE SOLDIER AND THE DANCER. If KS needs anything of the above, it is available [in Polička]. BM rarely writes. In his last letter he wrote that he was tired after the season. MM invites KS to come to Polička for the summer and asks him for patience, as without him BM would be lost in CSR.
