Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů apologizes to Jan Novák for not thanking him for the toast, but he is working on an EPOS ON GILGAMEŠ. He will reply to [Zdeněk] Zouhar soon, the translation he sent him is very beautiful, but BM has to use the English translation for now. BM had success with SYMPHONIC FANTASIES in New York and Boston. He sent the howling critics home [to Polička]. BM enjoys [John] Chrysostom and begs JN for old Russian liturgical music. Some collection, perhaps with modern arrangements. Perhaps JN could get something, now that they have good relations with their neighbours in Czechoslovakia. BM wouldn't understand the lyrics, but he can decipher the music. The price wouldn't matter. BM has already found Byzantine music, but he has nothing on Russian stuff and needs it for his new opera, which he has "in his head" [GREEK PASSIONS]. Maybe something has been published in England. BM will possibly contact [Karel] Shebanek. As soon as SYMPHONIC FANTASIES is published, BM will send it to Novák. JN is to write to Polička.
