Content and physical description
ContentCharlotta Martinů apologizes for the late reply to the letter of 21 August 1963, but she only received the box from Prague yesterday. Thank you for it, it arrived safely.
She regretted that there was no performance of "The Well" [OPENING OF THE WELL, SPALICE, see DLA 1963-00-00c] in September. She was informed that it would be held in December. ChM will probably not attend, he must take care of his health.
At the Czechoslovak Embassy in Paris, Václav Pleskot told her that the National Theatre company would perform JULIET at the Théâtre des Nations in Paris; ChM is delighted. Does the addressee know about this?
Charlotte was told by Alkor-Edition that Supraphon will soon release JULIETTA on record. Is this true?
ChM was in Switzerland in August at the bank [Sarasin], the mail from the addressees arrived there safely. According to Zdenka [Podhajska?], no one from Dilia has information about the "Bulletin d'information" [Boosey & Hawkes information leaflet]. Mario Bois wanted the Bulletin to be published by Dilia, he told a person from Prague (ChM will find out his name). ChM tells Bois that Dilia knows nothing and that they had better publish the Bulletin with B&H.
ChM will stay in Vieux-Moulin until early December, then leave for Côte d'Azur.
She is surprised that Dilia has not been contacted by [Israeli Music Publications] about material for ISAIAH'S PROPHECY. According to the ZP, the composition will be performed by the Czech Choir on 4 December 1963. ChM did not know this and promised the [Czechoslovak] premiere by the PSPU choir. She apologizes and explains the misunderstanding: she promised the PSPU choir that she would pay the Israeli publisher for the material. She would not have done so if she had known that the Czech Philharmonic had already paid for it in 1962. The IMP wrote to Charlotte that the material for the PSPU was to be paid for through the Dilia books. ChM did receive the Czech Philharmonic's programme for the 1963-1964 season, but it concentrated only on SYMPHONY No. 1 (17 and 18 October 1963).
