ContentCarl Schwaller informs Bohuslav Martinů that his CONCERTO FOR SMITH will be performed at the concerts on 14 and 15 April [1958] in Freiburg. Quartet and Orchestra under the baton of Hans Münch. It will be a great pleasure for him and also for the ill Hans Gierster, representing Münch, if BM comes to the concerts. As a former member of the Basel Chamber Orchestra and a friend of Paul Sacher, CS has previously been acquainted with some of BM's works. After the war, through Sacher, he was commissioned to conduct the SMYČC. Quartet No. 3 and performed it with his quartet in many German cities. Now he will perform the CONCERT FOR SMYČC. Quartet and Orchestra in Freiburg, followed by the Double Concerto in one of the last symphony concerts.
