Content and physical description
ContentKarl Vötterle thanks you for your letter of 10 November 1965. There is no unanswered correspondence with Charlotte Martinů in the publishing house. The last letter (and the only one from a personal meeting) is dated 10 June 1964, and this was answered on 10 July 1964. The publishers informed ChM of the six works they planned to publish under Supplementary Agreement No. 2. The two-year delay causes many inconveniences for the publishers in Prague, but it is clear to KV that the work of publication is very demanding. Bohuslav Martinů himself demanded the division of rights between the [Kassel] publishing house and the state publishing house in Prague already when signing the contract for the publication of MIRANDOLINA. This also entails the sharing of costs and the work on the editions. KV will ask to speed up the work on the edition. He would like ChM to sign the supplementary contract which they sent on 17 Feb 1964. The manuscript of the SONATAS FOR FLUTE, HOUSEL AND Clavier was sent to BM for corrections to the edition but has not been returned. The original manuscript of the score and piano excerpt of PLAYS ABOUT MARY is in the Polička Museum; the publisher has only a copy of the copyist's copy of both sources. They inform Charlotte Martinů via the addressee that the work will be given its German premiere at Easter 1966 in Wiesbaden, so the sender must keep a copy of the score for this purpose. The manuscripts of MIRANDOLINA, PARABOLY and VARIATIONS ON SLOVAK PEOPLE'S SONG became the property of the publishing house in accordance with § 5 of the contract of 1 April 1959. KV has already pointed out this practice to ChM several times, so if the publishing house has promised to send her the manuscript score of TWELVE ALEXANDRE, they also want to assure her that they cannot give up the above-mentioned manuscripts, which belong to them according to the contracts. The CC asks that this information be forwarded to ChM.
