Content and physical description
ContentPeter Gradenwitz is enthusiastic that Miloš Šafránek is preparing a new edition of his book on Bohuslav Martinů (he informed MŠ about this in his letter of 10 January [1961]).
PG writes that he met BM in Switzerland in the summer of 1955. BM is said to have shown great interest in the history of Israel and also spoke of being inspired by certain parts of the Bible. PG reportedly suggested to BM whether he would like to compose a work with biblical themes, which would be written in Hebrew and premiered in Israel [ISAIAH'S PROPHECY].
In 1959, BM wrote a letter from the hospital informing PG that he wished ISAIAH'S PROPHECY could be published in Israel.
PG writes that since BM's death, [Israeli Music Publications Limited] has been trying to reconstruct ISAIAH'S PROPHECY (due to the large number of errors and incompleteness of the work). They can therefore send the autograph score to the MC in three to four months at the earliest.
The premiere in Hebrew is planned for the same year in Jerusalem or Tel Aviv. The work will also be published later in the year.
